Looking Back at ECE’s Annual Sport’s Competition’s

2017

Back in 2017, as the new semester is starting, student’s of ECE SWCU has a yearly competition called POFTE (Pekan Olahraga FTEK), basically the sport’s festival of ECE student’s. There are a lot of sport’s and game’s that are held at POFTE 2017, which include’s soccer, tennis, futsal, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, finger billiard, and even some e-sport’s like counter strike, PES, dota, and Clash Royale. POFTE 2017 with the general theme of “Our Unity is Our Tradition” start’s from the 9th of January to the 13th of January 2017.

Aditya R. Daruaji, an ECE student, as well as the coordinator of that years POFTE event, said that that years POFTE had 6 total teams that consists of ECE student’s from each year , student’s from the year 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and for “fosil” which is a nickname for student’s that has already graduated from ECE. Some Lecturer’s and staff of ECE also had joined the event, mainly a sport called “finger billiard”, soccer, and a traditional Indonesian sport called “Panjat Pinang”. “The theme of “Our Unity is Our Tradition” hopes to closen our bond between each and every student studying in ECE and also be able to deepen their meaning of sportivity in their daily lives, especially in sports. Of course being together isn’t only a formality, but rather a tradition” Said Aditya.

On the last day, “panjat pinang” and some traditional games are held. Traditional games like “bakiak”, tug-of-war, pillow fighting, baseball, and “estafet balon”. Even though it was pouring rain when the traditional games are held, it didn’t stop the student’s, they still completed every single game with their ever burning spirit. In the end the student’s from year 2013 managed to win “panjat pinang”, but the overall champion was the student’s from year 2014.

2020

as a yearly event, POFTE also was held in 2020, back in the 13th to 18th of January. In this year, POFTE has sport’s and game’s like soccer, gutsal, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, basket, and e-sports. Also some traditional games and finally the most special event called “Pucang” (or “panjat pinang”).

At the end of thursday, every student from ECE helped setting up the area for “pucang” the next day. Usually this proses is called “malam pucang” (the day before the event). The event is also a good opportunity for lecturer’s, staff, and student’s to get to know each other better. On the last day, traditional games and also “pucang” was held, with the announcement of the overall winner’s soon after all event were finished. The winner of POFTE 2020 was “fosil” and the runner-up was student’s from year 2016.

Sadly on that year’s “pucang”. None of the contestant’s were able to climb up all the way, so they were forced to pull it down together, nevertheless, it is still a very good time to get closer to each other and hopes that this event will continue to go on every year.
